PARABLES OF CORRECTION (2020)

Animations, Watercolors
Sound by Joe Arcidiacono
First exhibited at Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, Ca, September 2020

Parables of Correction (2020) is a series of animations based on an invented group of sixteen related machines. Each depicts a component in a larger system, all caught in a loop of perpetual effort. Like workers on an assembly line, the animated laborers make constant forward progress while moving nowhere. As with an organ in the body, the components have discrete functions that contribute to the life of the larger whole. The conduits and arteries that weave through the spaces of the animations transport products and by-products to other parts of the system. Some units generate energy to power it, while others recycle waste. These details, taken together, rather than fully describing the system to which they contribute, only suggest more questions about the objective of the greater organism.

For The Fabricators, (2021), The animations have been reconfigured and interconnected, revealing their relationships to each other and functioning as an organism.
