IDYLLWILD (2012)

2-channel animation, custom software
Sound by Joe Arcidiacono
First exhibited at Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, CA

Idyllwild is part of a series of animations based on Course of Empire, by Hudson River painter Thomas Cole. Not referring to a specific painting in the cycle, Idyllwild focuses exclusively on the changing sky across the five paintings. The 2-channel animation consists of a pair of projections, one on the wall and the second on the floor. The projections are generative, ever changing and reorganizing themselves and their relationship to each other.
