PRESTO! (2017)

Animations, Nomadic Projection
Curated by Kristy Edmunds
Projection and site assistance by Cris Moss
Produced and presented by Converge 45
First exhibited in the city of Portland, OR August 2017

Presto! is a series of animations projected onto the architecture of Portland, Oregon. Over three nights, the work was presented at sites all over the city, as well as in motion from a projector mounted to a roving van.

The short looped animations are made from the conflation of hand gestures taken from sleight of hand tricks combined with isolated gestures from speeches made by Donald Trump. In presenting these works of close magic in the public realm, I am interested in exploring the tension between individual, intimate gestures and larger civic ambitions. They are available for download free here.
