METHOD AIR (2010)

Projected Animation
Commissioned By EMPAC, Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, Troy, New York
Curated by Kathleen Forde

Based on video of local skateboarders, Method Air is an animation projected onto the façade of EMPAC. The animation explores the relationship of the formidable glass building to the city below. Like a number of other videos I have made, Method Air was born out of frustration at my inability to fly except in dreams. For me, defying gravity is transcendent; it is about going beyond the limitations of physics. Remarkable skateboarders mess with physical limitations all the time.
